“Birds flying high, you know how I feel
Sun in the sky, you know how I feel
Breeze driftin’ on by, you know how I feel
It’s a new dawn
It’s a new day”
sung by Nina Simone
Early in the morning you can hear them sing. The more beautiful it sounds, the more beautiful the day becomes, because a clear day makes the sound resonate better.
Enjoy!

The jay is both an earth and air creature. Its plumage has the heavenly blue on the wings and the earthy brown on the body. In addition, black and white feathers are represented. They represent light and dark. The dove is a bringer of peace and harmony. Remember the story of Noah's Ark: symbol of reconciliation In the various religions doves are used with a special meaning. Then, of course, there are the well-known carrier pigeons. The pheasant is two...

Wading birds

Wading birds

The most famous are the heron and the stork. The second was almost extinct in the Netherlands in the 1960s, but is increased in population thanks to an initiative in 1969. In the above picture I first saw the Heron after I saw the picture on the computer. The white heron would be a special bird. He has been known since Egyptian times as the bringer of something new, he stands for change. The white heron is a very special...

Ducks

Ducks

Besides Swans and Geese, Ducks are the most famous Dutch water birds. They come in different types. Ducks radiate tranquility, offer protection and are graceful on the water. They are connected to the earth, air and water. Above a couple wild Ducks males, resting on a branch above water. Under a female with young. Always endearing to watch. After hatching from the egg, they walk and swim. And learn what they need to do to survive. I remember I saw...

Other waterbirds

Other waterbirds

In addition to the well-known water birds, on this post a collection of the other water birds. The Cormorant is a fairly large bird, which stands still for a long time on something standing in the water; this can be a board, but also a stump of wood.  Spritual: It has a "down to earth" mentality. To dry themselves or to warm themselves, they sit on staff with their wings spread. When hunting for food, they can dive to a...

Swans

Swans

Swans are the largest of the waterbirds. Swans are generally monogamous. The reason: because it works for them! They do the heavy lifting together and both have a higher chance of raising young. It helps if you don't have to spend time and energy every year to find and seduce a partner. They can sleep on the water and even swim with one leg up It strikes me that they are often synchronized in action. White swans look similar, but...

Small multi-tone songbirds

Small multi-tone songbirds

Songbirds, and I mean the ones with muli-tone song : a large group. Each with its own sound. Therefore recognizable. Every human being has its own sound too. Just as we don't want to change songbirds, we shouldn't want to change a person either. I always try to respond to a bird's call: that works fine with a blackbird. He also responds on my wisthles:  Another miracle of nature. The reason why I choose the photo above. And under: a...

Birds of prey.

Birds of prey.

Freedom; Attention to detail; Patience; Groundbreaking; Qualities that come to my mind when I see a bird of prey; either 'praying' in the air or sitting on a pole. And then, suddenly, at a speed down into the field to catch the prey. The buzzard ( see above)  and the little falcon are the ones I see the most. I sometimes find it hard to see what it is.  Most times they fly away before I can take a picture....
